Raino Tech4Impact working with Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition(GAIN) to increase availability and affordability of nutritious foods.

Raino Tech4Impact platform Markiti has been selected to benefit from Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition(GAIN)  Keeping Food Markets Working (KFMW) Covid19 Response Fund. Under this program, Raino Tech4Impact will receive funding and technical assistance for the smart distribution of affordable nutritious fish products like Omena

Omena has high nutritional value and is rich in proteins, minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants. Omena accounts for 70% of fish consumed in low-income households because it is readily available and affordable in Eastern and Southern Africa. 

About Markiti Platform 

Markiti, an informal word meaning market place, this platform was developed by Raino Tech4impact Ltd as a response to the COVID -19 disruption in the local food distribution channels, cutting the supply of nutritious foods in urban low-income areas  – the  Platform mainly focuses on white meat products, leveraging on decentralized cold chain and in the last 12 months has distributed over 5000 orders.

About Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition(GAIN)

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the United Nations in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. GAIN works with local businesses to ensure the production and supply of nutritious foods to low-income consumers. Over 40 small and medium-sized companies have received support from GAIN in areas such as basic nutrition principles, food standards, and compliance, food safety, market-entry, entrepreneurship, financial management, and strategic business management.
